ENGL203 - Techniques of Listening
A study of listening as one of the four communication arts. Students learn the definition of listening, its place in the communication process, its importance in our academic, vocational and social pursuits, and the various techniques useful in improving listening effectiveness. Application of these techniques to discriminative listening, comprehensive listening, therapeutic listening, critical listening, and appreciative listening are examined. In addition, the course touches upon physiological, psychological, and social factors that affect the listening process. Prerequisite: ENGL 101. 3 Cr. (3 Lec.) Spring semester.
