An analytical introduction to the processes by which economic resources are allocated and income is distributed. Concepts addressed include scarcity and opportunity cost, utility, supply and demand, elasticity, production costs, pricing under perfect and imperfect competition, the role of government, and the theory of international trade and finance. This course is designed to serve the needs of students intending to transfer to a four-year institution. ECON 120 fulfills the SUNY General Education Social Sciences requirement. A student who completes this course may not also count credit earned in ECON 101 toward degree requirements. Prerequisites: MATH 090 and RDNG 116 if required by placement testing; prior completion or concurrent enrollment in ENGL 100. 3 Cr. (3 Lec.)
